Professor Michael Hensley

Professor Michael Hensley MBBS, PhD, FRACP is Director of Medical Services at the Royal Prince Alfred Hospital, Sydney and Emeritus Professor of Medicine of the University of Newcastle.

Professor Michael Hensley MBBS, PhD, FRACP was appointed to the Authority in April 2022. He was the Dean of Medicine at the University of Newcastle, Faculty of Medicine and Public Health from 2002 to 2010, Director of Medical Services at John Hunter Hospital from 2014 to 2020 and is currently Director of Medical Services at the Royal Prince Alfred Hospital, Sydney. Professor Hensley’s primary professional focus is in respiratory and sleep medicine and clinical epidemiology, with numerous publications. He has had experience with Commonwealth and State Government medical regulatory work, including as a member of the Economic Sub-Committee of the Pharmaceutical Benefits Advisory Committee from 2013 to 2020.

Professor Hensley's term of appointment expires on 3 April 2027.
